Long Scores Four Goals to Lead Lions to a 4-0 Win

Reading, PA. – Amanda Long's offensive exploits carried the Albright field hockey team to a 4-0 victory over Cedar Crest College for the team's fourth win of the season on Tuesday, September 20th, at Shirk Stadium. Forward Amanda Long scored all four goals for the Lions, who recorded 54 shots in the game.

Almost halfway through the first half, Long broke through Cedar Crest's defense to score her first goal of the game. After her original shot was blocked by goalie Emma Ryan, Long fired the rebound to hand the Lions a 1-0 lead 15:39 into the game.

Before the completion of the first half, Long struck again to put the Lions up 2-0. Forward Tracy Snyder passed the ball across the goal mouth to an awaiting Long, who fired the ball behind Ryan with less than four minutes left in the half.

The Lions continued to dominate Falcons in the second half. Long tallied her first hat trick of the season at the 53:29 mark of the second. Sophomore defender Annette Helmandollar recorded the assist.

After falling behind 3-0, Cedar Crest called a timeout to work on a game plan to halt Long, but the forward's expertise could not be tamed as she struck once more in the game. With 66:45 on the board, Snyder recorded her second assist of the game while Kelly Baumann registered her first on Long's sixth goal of the season.

Albright returns to action on Thursday, September 22nd, when they visit and square off with Swarthmore College at 4 p.m.
