Double Overtime for Men's Soccer Ends in a Tie

RADNOR, Pa. – The Albright men's soccer team battled Cabrini to a 1-1 draw Wednesday night in non-conference play.  The Lions are now 2-4-2 on the season, while Cabrini sits at 3-3-1.

Cabrini scored the only goal of the first half in the 40th minute.  Ibrahim Kallie scored on a header off a corner kick to put the host Cavaliers on top.  Despite being out-shot 16-2 over the first 45 minutes, Albright trailed by just the one goal at intermission.  Freshman keeper Billy Mullen had five saves in the half to keep the Lions within striking distance of the Cavaliers.

Albright pulled even in the match in the 53rd minute. Junior Nathan Hughes scored off a cross from sophomore Anthony Parlato to tie the score at 1-1. The Lion defense was up to the task of keeping Cabrini off the scoreboard the rest of the second half. Mullen had four more saves in the second half, and senior Steve Bien-Amie had a key defensive save with five minutes remaining in regulation time to preserve the 1-1 tie.

Albright was not able to generate much offense through the two 10-minute overtime periods, but tight defense and two more saves from Mullen kept the Cavaliers off the board as well as the teams settled for the 1-1 final score.

Albright will continue its five-game road trip with a scrimmage at Lackawanna College on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
