Reading, Pa.- Albright women's tennis team earned its second win of the season topping visiting Penn State Abington 8-1 on Tuesday afternoon.
The Lions (2-2) jumped out to an early 3-0 lead as they swept the doubles bouts against the Nittany Lions (0-2). The No.1 duo of freshman Mara Trifoi and senior
Brooke Ronney handed Albright its first win. The tandems of
Amanda Camporeale and Melanie Amato along with Samantha Stitchman and Rebecca Fritz both defeated their opponents 8-3.
Albright continued to dominate when singles action started as five of the six players won their respected matches. Trifoli (No. 1) earned a 6-2, 6-0 victory while Ronney (No. 2) earned an 8-3 win. The final three players on the lineup card—
Julia Devine, Amato, and Mary Kramer—came through with wins. Devine defeated her challenger 6-3, 6-1 while Amato cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win. Kramer wrapped up the Lions day with an 8-2 victory.
Albright returns to action on Saturday, October 1, when the Lions welcome DeSales University in the team's final fall match-up at 12 p.m.
