READING, Pa. – Omari Ringgold scored a career-high 28 points of 10-of-16 shooting to lead the Albright men's basketball team to an 89-77 victory over Stevenson on Saturday afternoon.
DeJuan Smith had a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. With the victory, the Lions improve to 7-4 in MAC Commonwealth play.
Albright used a run in the early going to turn a six-point deficit into an eight-point lead. Stevenson opened the game with a 9-3 lead, but the Lions came back to score 14 straight points to lead, 17-9, on Ringgold's three pointer with 12:28 left. Stevenson came back to tie the score at 21-21 and at 29-29. Albright finished the half on a 9-4 run to take a 38-33 lead into halftime.
Albright led, 46-43, with 15:59 to play in the second half when it rattled off seven straight points to give the Lions their first double-digit lead of the day. Stevenson cut the lead back to seven points, but a layup by Smith and a three pointer by
Brandon Lindsay stretched the lead to 11 points with 11 minutes to play.
Jayson Clark hit two free throws with 8:38 left to push the lead into double figures for good. The Albright lead ballooned to 17 on a free throw by Lindsay with 5:07 to play, and the Lions matched that lead on another Lindsay free throw with 3:20 left.
Clark had 13 points while Lindsay chipped in with 10.
Fred Rowles had eight points, six rebounds and five assists. Smith had four assists to go along with his double-double.
Ringgold scored 17 of his 28 points in the second half. His 28 points surpassed his previous career-high by one. He scored 27 last season against Lycoming.
Albright shot 58.6 percent from the field in the second half while holding Stevenson to 40 percent shooting.
Albright is on the road Wednesday at Hood at 8 p.m.
