READING, Pa. – The Albright volleyball team closed the 2017 season with a loss at crosstown rival Alvernia on Thursday night. Alvernia defeated the Lions in straight sets, winning 25-12, 25-15 and 25-12.
A pair of seniors in their final collegiate match led the way for Albright.
Kellie Hill was the leading scorer for Albright, registering 11 kills.
Claudia Guise had 14 assists to go along with three kills and two digs.
Morgan Puller reached double figures with 10 digs, and
Becca Davis finished with eight digs and two assists.
Albright scored the first three points in the first set, but Alvernia responded later with a 10-2 run to turn a 6-5 deficit into a 15-8 lead.
In game two, Alvernia opened the set with an 11-1 lead as it led by as many as 12 points, 18-6. Albright came back with a 5-0 run that included a kill from
Bryana Chambers to make it 18-11, but Alvernia finished the set with a 25-15 victory.
In the third set, Hill recorded a kill to tie the score at 5-5. At that point, however, Alvernia scored 13 of the next 16 points to take an 18-8 lead.
Chambers finished with four kills for the Lions.
