WESTMINSTER, Md. – Cam Cetrone recorded a hat trick and had two assists for the Albright men's lacrosse team, but the Lions lost at McDaniel, 15-6, on Saturday afternoon.
McDaniel (4-2) jumped out to a 5-0 lead after scoring four goals in the first period and opening the second with another. That's when Cetrone netted his first on a man-up opportunity to cut the deficit to 5-1 with 12:45 remaining in the half. Cetrone assisted on a
Jack Bobel goal with 3:19 left in the first half, but McDaniel carried a 9-2 lead into the intermission.
Tyler Strayline scored the opening goal of the second half on a feed by
Andrew Potter to make it 9-3 just over five minutes into the period. After a McDaniel score,
Nick Tonno answered midway through the third on Cetrone's second assist. Cetrone scored two more unassisted goals in the fourth quarter.
Conor Scafidi and
Ryan Aler each played a half in goal for the Lions. The pair combined for 14 saves. Aler had nine in the second half. Cetrone led the Lions with 10 shots while Potter had nine. Cetrone now has four hat tricks in Albright's first five games on the season.
Albright returns home to face Gwynedd Mercy on Wednesday afternoon at 4 p.m.
