Three Lions Have Multi-Hit Games in Loss at Elizabethtown

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – Elizabethtown scored runs in each of the first five innings as it defeated the Albright baseball team, 10-1, in non-conference action Monday afternoon. Three Albright players had two hits apiece.

Elizabethtown got on the board with two runs on three hits along with the benefit of an error, allowing one of the two runs to score unearned. It would be one of four unearned runs allowed by the Lions.

Albright responded in the top of the second. Noah Beebe doubled after one out, and Brandon Daubert's two-out walk pushed him to second. Joe Suppa followed with an RBI single to center to cut Elizabethtown's lead in half, 2-1. Beebe and Suppa each had two hits for the Lions.

Albright got its leadoff hitters on base in the third and fourth innings, trailing 5-1 and 6-1, respectively. In the third, Nathan Fretz led off with a double down the left field line, but he was stranded at third base. In the fourth, Beebe led off the inning with a walk. Jimmie Gentry and Suppa followed with singles after an out to load the bases. But a pair of ground balls, the first a force at the plate, ended the threat without a run crossing. Gentry also had a pair of hits for the Lions.

The multi-hit game is the fifth of the season for Gentry. It's Beebe's third and Suppa's second. Fretz reached base for the seventh-straight game, and he now has a six-game hitting streak.

Albright returns to action Thursday at Alvernia.
