Baseball Drops Doubleheader to Alvernia

READING, Pa.- Baseball dropped both games of a doubleheader to Alvernia Saturday afternoon at Kelchner Field.

In the second game, Alvernia jumped up in the top of the first on an RBI double to take a quick 1-0 lead.

Albright answered back in the bottom of the second inning when Brandon Daubert came up with the bases loaded and drove in Micah Storms on a fielder's choice. Logan Pennypacker cleared the bases with a two RBI triple that brought in Daubert and Noah Beebe to go up 3-1.

Alvernia scored six more runs throughout the game to take it, 7-3.

Storms had two hits and a run scored. Zach Krause also had a hit in the second game.

Shaun O'Reilly started on the mound for the Lions, pitching 3.2 innings. Mat Costa threw 3.1 innings in relief, giving up only two hits and one earned run.

Alvernia's bats were on fire in the second game, putting up 14 runs on the back of four home runs.

Albright's run came on a solo home run by Jeff Yordy.

Yordy totaled three hits in the first game. Nathan Fretz had two hits and Beebe also got a hit.

Connor Travis started on the mound for Albright. Nick Dinnocenti, William Nicoletto, Phillip Angelastro and Zach Massari each made appearances in relief.

The Lions return to the field on Tuesday when they host Delaware Valley at Kelchner Field. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.
