OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Senior Alysha Lofton recorded a triple-double to help lead the Albright Lions women's basketball team to a 76-61 road victory over Stevenson in MAC Commonwealth play on Saturday afternoon.

With the win, the Lions improve 15-5 overall behind its eighth straight win and 10-1 in MAC Commonwealth play. Meanwhile, the Mustangs drop to 12-8 overall and 6-5 in conference play. Albright has won 11 of its last 12 games since their record sat at 4-5 on December 9th.

Lofton recorded the first triple-double in recent memory for the Lions with 15 points on 5-of-10 from the field, along with 11 rebounds and a career-high 10 assists. The 10 assists were the most in a game for a Lions player since 2011, and Lofton also added five steals. Fellow seniors Nina Mazzarelli and Jane Joyce each scored in double-figures with Mazzarelli tallying 15 points on 4-of-7 from the field, and Joyce posting 12 points. Joyce also added seven rebounds and six assists in the win.

Early on it seemed the Lions were going to dominate from the start as they opened the game on an 11-3 run over the first 3:15 behind scoring the first six points of the game. However, the Mustangs stormed back with 12 straight points to take a 15-13 lead at the 4:51-mark of the first quarter after making 5-of-6 shots during that span. Stevenson extended its run to 17-2 over the next few minutes and took a 20-17 lead into the second quarter after the Lions made back-to-back layups to close out the first. Mazzarelli opened the second with a three-point play to tie the game at 20, but the Lions were unable to take the lead away from the Mustangs during the entire duration of the second quarter. The Lions went the final 6:49 of the first half without a field goal which allowed the Mustangs to extend its lead out to 35-27 at halftime.

Albright would take control of the game with a 15-2 run to open the third quarter to take a 42-37 lead at the 5:03-mark. The Lions held the Mustangs without a field goal until the 4:52-mark of the third quarter and saw its lead reach 10 before taking a 52-44 lead headed into the fourth quarter. In total, the Lions outscored the Mustangs 25-9 in the third quarter with Horka scoring 10 of the 25 points for Albright. The Lions were clinging to a six point lead with 8:30 left in the game, but blew the game open with a 15-1 run that spanned five minutes to take a commanding 70-50 lead at the 3:58-mark. Once again, the Lions held the Mustangs without a field goal for an extended period of time (7:29) to put the finishing touches on the game. Albright saw its lead grow to as many as 23 points before the Mustangs scored nine points in the final two minutes to bring the score down to 15 at 76-61.
