ANNVILLE, Pa. – Sophomore forward
Lauren Haley notched the game-winning goal in the 64
th minute and the Albright Lions women's soccer team (10-3-1, 4-2 MACC) won their second straight with a 1-0 victory over Lebanon Valley (6-5-2, 2-3-1 MACC) on Saturday afternoon at Herbert Field in Annville.
Haley had her initial shot deflected, but was able to gather the rebound and net her team-leading 11
th goal of the season to give Albright a 1-0 lead that they wouldn't relinquish.
The Lions currently sit in a tie for third in the MAC Commonwealth standings with two games remaining. The top five teams will qualify for the MAC Commonwealth tournament.
Albright held an 8-4 shot advantage in the opening stanza and had three shots in the first 14 minutes, but were unable to break through against Lebanon Valley keeper Serena
Donmoyer.
Head coach
Pat Stanco's squad held a 13-9 shot advantage in the contest including an 8-5 edge in shots on target. Haley had four shots to pace the Lions, while Katie Goldsmith led LVC with three shots.
Senior goalie
Alexis Tunney recorded five saves for Albright to notch her fourth shutout of the season and Donmoyer had seven saves for the Dutchmen.
The Lions are back in action on Wednesday, Oct. 24 when they head to Widener to battle the Pride at 5:30 p.m.
