Men's Soccer Falls to Widener, 2-0

CHESTER, Pa. – The Albright Lions men's soccer team (4-10-2, 1-5-1 MACC) saw their playoff hopes come to an end with a 2-0 loss to the Widener Pride (7-9-1, 2-5 MACC) on Wednesday night at Quick Stadium in Chester.

Nick Brison struck first for Widener with his fifth goal of the season in the 22nd minute to give the Pride a 1-0 edge. Brison gathered his own rebound off an initial shot that was saved by Albright goalie Billy Mullen. The Pride held a 4-3 shot advantage in the opening stanza.

At the 82:47 mark of the second half, Noah Jeffries played a cross from Logan Musselman and sent a shot home to give Widener a 2-0 lead.

The two teams were even in shots at eight apiece and the Lions held a 5-4 advantage in shots on target. Senior Jared Leckburg paced Albright with two shots, while Brison and Jeffries had two shots apiece for the Pride.

Mullen made two saves in net for the Lions and Vinnie Nocito recorded five saves for the Pride.

Albright returns home to wrap up the 2018 season on Saturday, Oct. 27 when they host crosstown rival Alvernia at Shirk Stadium at 12 p.m.
