Autumn Bieber just 1:40 into the first overtime and the Albright Lions women's soccer team (13-4-2) advanced to the ECAC semifinals for the second consecutive year with a 1-0 victory over the Westminster Titans (16-6-1) on Sunday afternoon at Shirk Stadium in Reading.
Bieber's assist on the game-winning goal was her 12
th of the season, breaking the previous single-season program record of 11 that was set by Steph Deswert in 2004 and 2005.
The goal was Bross' second of the season.
Albright will play Wilkes University in the ECAC semis on Saturday, Nov. 17 at a time and place that are yet to be determined.
Westminster held a 4-2 shot advantage in a scoreless first half with perhaps the best chance for either side coming in the 22
nd minute as Albright's
Lauren Haley had a pair of shots denied by Titans' goalie Camille Holzschuh.
The Titans had a chance in the 81
st minute as Kayla Trozzi came in alone on Lions' goalie
Alexis Tunney, but sent her shot just wide of the net as the game remained scoreless.
At the start of the overtime period, Westminster's Keely Birsic sent a shot just high of the net from midfield and the Lions found the winner just over a minute later off the corner kick from Bieber.
Albright held an 11-6 shot advantage in the contest including a 7-2 edge in shots on target. Haley had four shots to pace the Lions, while Trozzi had four to lead Westminster.
Tunney made one save and notched her fifth shutout of the season for head coach
Pat Stanco's squad.
