READING, Pa. – The Albright Lions women's lacrosse team ran off 17 straight goals, and saw two players reach milestones as they dominated Alvernia 17-1 in MAC Commonwealth play on a warm afternoon at Shirk Stadium.
 
With the win, the Lions have now won three straight games to improve to 9-4 overall with a 3-1 record in MAC Commonwealth play. The one goal surrendered was the lowest total that the Lions had given up in a game since they defeated Immaculata 18-1 in March 2015. Meanwhile, the Golden Wolves drop to 0-12 overall with a 0-5 record in conference play.
 
The team celebrated its senior day prior to the game, but the Golden Wolves shocked the Lions with a goal just 31 seconds into the game to take a 1-0 lead. From there, it became all Lions as they outplayed the Golden Wolves in all aspects of the game. The seniors began the charge as 
Corinne Donohue opened the scoring at the 28:11-mark of the first half, and classmate 
Erin Coleman followed just over two minutes later to give the Lions a 2-1 lead. Junior 
Sophie Bass then scored her 100
th career Albright goal just 10 seconds later after she won the draw control to bring the score to 3-1. Freshman 
Tristin Konen would score the Lions next two goals within the next two minutes to make it 5-1 which began a big day for her offensively. Sophomore 
Devon Mela tallied the next Lions goal at the 22:11-mark after sophomore 
Kelly Baumann picked up an initial shot attempt from Mela, and passed it back to her. Mela would come back to tally her second straight goal just over 30 seconds later to make it 7-1 before Bass struck again at the 18:22-mark for her second goal of the game to extend the lead out to 8-1. On the goal, Baumann hit a milestone as well with her 100
th career Albright point on an assist. Freshman 
Sarah Springer then got in the scoring at the 12:35-mark to bring the score to 9-1, and Baumann tallied her first goal of the game just under a minute later at the 11:57-mark to make it 10-1. The goal was the first of three in a row for Baumann as she scored at the 9:24-mark before tallying a free position shot goal just three minutes later. Konen then finished the Lions first half scoring with back-to-back goals to make it a 14-1 game at halftime.
 
Following the high-scoring first half for the Lions, they settled in the second half by tallying three more goals. Coleman opened the second half scoring for the Lions at the 27:17-mark for her second goal of the game to make it 15-1. Konen would follow seven minutes later with her fifth goal of the game on a shot that bounced under the Golden Wolves goalkeeper. Sophomore 
Bridgett Connolly finished off the Lions scoring for the game at the 8:42-mark as she registered the first goal of her Lions career. Baumman led the Lions with six points on three goals and three assists, while Konen set her new season-high with five goals. Bass and Mela each posted three points behind two goals and one assist, while Donohue posted two points on one goal and one assist.
 
Overall the Lions held a 34-12 shot advantage for the game, with 25 of the shots coming in the first half. The Lions also held a 24-10 advantage in ground balls, and a 13-7 advantage in draw control wins as well. Freshman goalkeeper 
Terae Mason made six saves in the win, while Alvernia used two goalkeepers in the game with each playing a full half.
 
Albright will return to action on Wednesday, April 18
th when they will host Lycoming in MAC Commonwealth play at 4 p.m.
