Men's Lacrosse Edged by Arcadia, 9-8

GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Albright Lions men's lacrosse team staged a late rally in the fourth quarter, but were unable to complete it as they lost 9-8 to Arcadia on Friday night in MAC Commonwealth play.

With the loss, the Lions drop to 3-7 overall and 1-2 in MAC Commonwealth play. Meanwhile, the Knights improve to 5-3 overall and 1-2 in conference play.

The first quarter saw back and forth scoring action that started with an Arcadia goal at the 13:36-mark to give the Knights an early 1-0 lead. Freshman Cole Hinds then tied the game at one just over a minute later after receiving a pass from classmate James Gorman. The Knights would retake the lead at the 7:20-mark, but Gorman retied the game just before the quarter ended with a goal at the 1:03-mark. Arcadia then controlled the game for the first half of the second quarter by scoring three consecutive goals, and went up 5-2 on the Lions at the 8:43-mark. However, the Lions fought back to make it a one goal game at the half after getting goals from Hinds and freshman Brandon Hall.

Sophomore Jack Bobel continued the Lions momentum into the third quarter as he tied the game at five with a goal at the 10:15-mark. Once again, the Knights went on a three goal run and took an 8-5 lead at the 6:21-mark of the third quarter. Gorman then began a Lions rally by scoring his second goal of the game on a pass from Bobel at the 2:12-mark, but the Knights responded at the 12:56-mark of the fourth quarter to make it a three goal game again. Hinds then made it a two goal game again at the 11:08-mark as he completed his hat trick in the process as well. Freshman Shane Early would continue the late game charge as he made it a one goal game with 6:52 left in the fourth quarter. The Lions had one last chance to tie the game in the final minute, but a shot from Bobel hit the post to seal the win for the Knights.

Despite the loss, the Lions outshot the Knights 42-30 overall, and just 23-21 in goals on net. Each team also grabbed 29 ground balls, and won 10 faceoff draws. Gorman led the offense with four points behind two goals and two assists, while Hinds tallied his first hat trick of his collegiate career with three goals.
