Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Haley, Molinaro Lead Women’s Soccer to 3-1 Victory at Alvernia

READING, Pa. – A pair of goals by sophomore Carleigh Molinaro and the game-winner from junior Lauren Haley led the Albright women's soccer team to a 3-1 win against the Golden Wolves on Friday evening at Alvernia University.

The Lions end regular season with an 11-7 record and 5-3 in the MAC Commonwealth.  The win will lock the Lions into the No. 4 seed in the upcoming MAC Commonwealth Tournament – the sixth consecutive tournament appearance for the Lions and head coach Pat Stanco.

The end of the first half saw two goals, the first being Albright's in the 41st minute of the game.  Junior Amanda Fulcher found Molinaro, who netted the ball into the bottom right corner for the 1-0 lead and her first career goal.  Less than a minute later, Alvernia junior Katelyn Schoener scored the equalizer from classmate Eden Jahn for a 1-1 score at the half.

The game-winner was scored by Haley at 51:04 and was assisted by senior Jillian Lapidus.  Molinaro added a second goal in the 74th minute for a 3-1 final after Lapidus again crossed the ball in front of the net to set up the score.

The Lions held a slim edge in shots 12-11, and had a 9-6 advantage in shots on goal.  Haley paced the Lions with five shots and senior Lauren Gough led the Golden Wolves with five as well.  Albright was rewarded four corner kicks to Alvernia's three.

Albright sophomore goalkeeper Vanessa Baker earned her second win in goal after making four saves.  In net for the Golden Wolves, sophomore Lily Sankey registered five saves on the night.

Albright will host Hood on Tuesday evening for the first round of the MAC Commonwealth Tournament.
