READING, Pa. – Senior
Billy Mullen set a new goalkeeping program record and notched a career-high 17 saves on Saturday evening at Alvernia University as the Lions fell 2-1 to the Golden Wolves.
Previously, the Albright men's soccer record for a career goals against average was held by goalkeeper Wendell Hannaford. During Hannaford's 2005-2008 career, he earned a 2.17 goals against average.
As Mullen concludes his career at Albright this evening, he will be the new record holder for career goals against average with a 2.06, earned over his four years in the net.
The Lions, led by head coach
Pat Stanco, will finish the 2019 season with a 5-14 record overall and 0-8 record in the MAC Commonwealth – the most wins overall since the 2014 season.

Alex Lahey struck a shot on goal, forcing first-year Alvernia goalkeeper Ben Solsky to make his sole save of the game. Mullen tallied seven saves before the Lions got on the board in the 34
th minutes, as sophomore
Alexander MacDonald netted the ball in the right bottom corner for the 1-0 lead going into the half.
The second half featured a late 78
th minute equalizer by Alvernia junior Ryan Kuster. Just two minutes later, Kuster would net the ball again to win the game for the Golden Wolves, 2-1.
Alvernia held a 27-8 advantage in shots and 20-3 edge in shots on goal. Lahey and junior
Wynton Britton paced the Lions after taking two shots each and Kuster led for the Golden Wolves, taking seven shots. Sophomore
Billy Hanratty and MacDonald will end the season tied for the top spot in offensive points for the Lions, each having three goals (6 pts.).
Mullen registered a total of 17 saves, the highest in a game in his career. Solsky stopped one shot in the net for the Golden Wolves.
