Men's Hoops to Face Arcadia Tonight in Conference Semifinals

READING, Pa. – The Albright Lions men's basketball team will travel to face Arcadia in the semifinals of the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Commonwealth Tournament tonight, Feb. 21, at 7 p.m.
 
Tickets: The MAC mandates the prices for adults at $6, senior citizens at $4, Students (with valid ID) and children $2, and for children under 6 with an adult are free. All tickets can be purchased at the gate.
 
Live Coverage: The Arcadia sports information office will provide live video and live stats for the game. Live updates will also be available throughout the game on the official Twitter feed for Albright athletics (@AlbrightLions).
 
MAC Commonwealth Tournament: Albright is the No. 5 seed in the tournament and faces the No. 1 seed Arcadia. The winners of the semifinal matchups on Thursday will play in the championship game on Saturday at the highest remaining seed.
 
Records: Albright enters the semifinal round with a 9-16 overall record. The Lions have won four-straight games with three of them coming on the road. Albright is also 4-1 in the month of February. Arcadia ended the regular season at 20-5 overall behind a 14-2 record in league action to claim the regular season title. The Knights won 17 of 18 games before dropping their last two to close the regular season.
 
Scouting the Lions: Albright is coming off a miraculous 78-77 comeback win against Stevenson in the opening round of MAC Commonwealth Tournament on Monday. The Lions trailed by 21 points at the 12:31-mark of the second half before out-scoring the Mustangs 39-17 for the rest of the game. Sophomore Samuel Majekodunmi registered a career-high 32 points with 28 of the coming in the second half. Majekodunmi also made the game-winning free throw with 3.7 seconds left. Senior Jared Rappoport posted 11 points along with three blocks to set the single-season program record for blocks in a single-season.
 
Lions in the Playoffs: Albright has made the MAC Commonwealth Tournament in three straight years and have advanced to the MAC Commonwealth Championship Game in each of the last two seasons. The Lions have advanced to the semifinal round of the tournament in all three of those seasons.
 
Scouting the Knights: Arcadia is tied for the conference lead in field-goal percentage at 46%, while ranking third in scoring offense at 78.1 points per game. The Knights also feature the top scoring defense in the MAC Commonwealth, allowing just 68.1 points per game. Arcadia has also been dominant on the glass this season as they lead the conference in both rebounding offense and defense. Sophomore Da'Kquan Davis has been the catalyst to the Knights success as he leads the team in scoring at 16.8 points per game which is also good for 7th highest in the conference. Davis also ranks ninth in the conference in three-point field goal percentage at 37.1 percent. Senior Phil Pierfy ranks second on the team in scoring at 13.6 points per game, while leading the team in rebounding at 6.2 per game.
 
The Knights in the Playoffs: Arcadia is making its fifth appearance in the MAC Commonwealth Tournament since joining the league in the 2008-09 season. The Knights have made it to the MAC Commonwealth Tournament semifinals in three of its last four seasons, and appeared in the championship game in the 2015-16 season.
 
Series: The Lions hold the series lead with a 16-7 record after dropping both contests this season to Arcadia. Albright had won three of its last four games against the Knights prior to this season which included last season's 58-45 win over the Knights in the MAC Commonwealth Tournament semifinal.
 
Last Meeting: Arcadia completed its regular season sweep of the Lions on Jan. 30th as they won 77-69 in Glenside. Albright battled the first-place Knights the whole night and found themselves just down two points with 12:07 left before Arcadia used an 11-3 run to put the game away. Sophomore Christian Lane had a breakout night with a career-high 26 points behind six three-pointers. The Knights defeated Albright at the Bollman Center on Jan. 5th by a score of 90-75.
 
Head Coaches: Rick Ferry has posted a 258-210 record in 18 seasons as the head coach of Albright. He is currently the second winningest men's basketball coach in Albright history, and this is the 12th time overall that he has led the Lions to the MAC Commonwealth Tournament. Under Ferry, the Lions have won two MAC Commonwealth Championships in addition to making two NCAA Tournament appearances with the previous coming last season.
 
Justin Scott is in his seventh season as the head coach of Arcadia. He has compiled a 101-86 record during that span after spending three seasons as an assistant coach at his alma mater, East Stroudsburg.  He has led the Knights to all five MAC Commonwealth Tournament appearances in the programs history including a berth in the 2016 MAC Championship game. This season, Scott has led Arcadia to a program-record 20 wins.
 
Up Next: The winner will advance to the MAC Commonwealth Tournament Championship game on Saturday, February 23rd. If the Lions win, they will travel to face the winner of the Widener/Hood game.
