With the loss, the Lions drop to 0-3 overall on the season. Meanwhile, the Hornets of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) improve to 2-1 on the year thus far.

Each offense started slow to begin the game as the team traded chances early throughout the first quarter. Shenandoah then broke the scoreless tie at the 3:51-mark after being set up by a Lions turnover off a clear attempt. The Hornets would extend their lead to 3-0 at the end the first quarter after scoring goals on back-to-back possessions that were 51 seconds apart. Sophomore Ethan Gain got the Lions on the scoreboard to start the second quarter on a man-up opportunity at the 13:44-mark to make it 3-1. Albright then cashed in on another man-up opportunity at the 10:26-mark as freshman Matt Schneider scored his first collegiate goal to make it a 3-2 game. However, the Hornets responded with three consecutive goals to end the first half with a 6-2 lead. Shenandoah tallied the first goal of the run at the 7:11-mark before following with the second goal 40 seconds later following a faceoff win.

Shenandoah then scored on an extra-man opportunity 59 seconds into the third quarter to make it 7-2. The Hornets continued the run with four more goals throughout the third quarter to take a commanding 11-2 lead with 1:48 left in the third quarter. Freshman Cole Genneken would end the run with a goal with just 53 seconds left in the third quarter after grabbing the initial ground ball off a faceoff. Genneken struck again just 44 seconds into the fourth quarter to make it 11-4 following taking the ground ball off a faceoff. Freshman Alex McKendry then finished the Lions scoring at the 10:25-mark of the fourth quarter.

The Hornets held a 46-26 advantage in shots for the game and a 36-29 advantage in ground balls. Shenandoah also won 14-of-19 face offs on the day and had 22 turnovers to Albright's 23.
