OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The Albright Lions softball team (13-15, 7-3 MACC) rallied for a victory in game one and sophomore
Kaitlyn Chell hit a go-ahead homer in the top of the eighth in game two en route to a sweep of the Stevenson Mustangs (11-18, 3-9 MACC) on Saturday afternoon at Weinberg-Fine Stadium.
Albright won game one by a score of 5-4 and took game two by a 7-5 score in eight innings.
Game One
Senior
Jordan Chell led off the top of the seventh for the Lions with an infield single, advanced to second on a groundout and scored on senior
Stephanie Pomante's go-ahead RBI single to give the visitors a 5-4 lead.
Albright had tied the game at four apiece in the top of the sixth on
Kaitlyn Chell's two-run shot.
Freshman
Allison Melahn (7-4) gave up four runs (one earned) on eight hits to go along with two walks and three strikeouts in a complete game effort to earn the win for the Lions. Morghan Fulton (8-7) allowed five runs (three earned) on eight hits while walking one and fanning five in seven innings and was dealt the loss for Stevenson.
The Mustangs opened the scoring with a pair of runs in the third as Haley Lennon knocked in a run via an RBI double and Erin Stephey reached on an error which allowed a second run to score. The Lions cut the lead to 2-1 in the fourth as
Jordan Chell led off with a single, took second on a passed ball, went to third on a fielder's choice and scored when younger sister Kaitlyn reached on a fielder's choice. The elder Chell reached on an error charged to Alexandra DiGrande which allowed
Kelly Cembrale to scamper home with the tying run in the top of the fifth. Stevenson quickly answered as an error allowed a pair of unearned runs to score in the bottom of the fifth and give the hosts a 4-2 edge for the time being.

Nicole Salerno (2-3) both recorded multi-hit games for the Lions.
Game Two
The younger Chell's go-ahead two-run blast in the top of the eighth lifted the Lions to a 7-5 victory in the nightcap.
Both teams scored three runs in the seventh to send the game to extras tied at five apiece. Cembrale plated a run with an RBI single, junior
Brooke Yerger knocked in a run via an RBI groundout and Cembrale scored on a wild pitch to give the Lions a 5-2 lead before the Mustangs rallied for three in the home half including a game-tying two-run double from Danielle Ebbinghausen.
Melahn (8-4) surrendered three runs on seven hits while walking three and fanning one in 5 1/3 IP of relief to record the win for Albright. Fulton (8-8) allowed Chell's go-ahead home run in relief of starter Haley Monahan and took the loss for Stevenson.
The Lions took an early 2-0 lead in the first as Yerger led off with a bunt single, stole second and scored on
Camille Sears' RBI double, while Sears came around to score later in the frame on a
Kaitlyn Chell RBI single. Stevenson tied the game at two with a pair of runs in the home half of the third including an RBI double from Erin Muir.
Sears got the start for the Lions and received a no-decision after allowing two runs on three hits to go along with three walks and a strikeout in 2 2/3 IP. Monahan was charged with five runs (three earned) on seven hits over 6 1/3 IP for the Mustangs.
Chell (3-4, HR, 3 RBI, 2 R), Pomante (2-4) and Yerger (2-4, 2B, RBI, SB, R) all registered multi-hit games for the Lions.
Albright heads to crosstown rival Alvernia for a key MAC Commonwealth doubleheader on Tuesday, April 16. First pitch of game one is set for 3 p.m.
