FREDERICK, Md. – Senior
Sophie Bass became the new all-time career points leader for Albright women's lacrosse as the Lions defeated Hood 13-6 on a beautiful Wednesday afternoon in MAC Commonwealth play.
With the win, the Lions conclude the regular season with a 12-5 record and 6-2 record in MAC Commonwealth play. The 12 wins are a new program record for the women's lacrosse team. Meanwhile, the Blazers fall to 9-7 overall and 1-6 in conference play.

Lauren China opened the scoring at the 28:07-mark to put the Lions up 1-0, but the Blazers quickly answered to tie it at one 25 seconds later. Freshman
Abbie Moist gave the Lions the lead back at the 27:03-mark after junior
Kelly Baumann found her in front of the net, and China would follow just under five minutes later to make it 3-1. Baumann then extended the Lions lead to 4-1 at the 18:54-mark before Albright had a scoring drought that lasted just over 12 minutes. Bass ended the drought at the 6:25-mark following a Hood goal to make it a 5-2 game. However, the Blazers closed out the half by scoring three of the last four goals to make it a 6-5 game at halftime. Following a pair of Hood goals, freshman
Taylor Filmer scored with 16 seconds left to put the Lions up 6-4. Hood then won the ensuing draw control and scored with just one second left.
Following nearly five minutes of scoreless action to begin the second half, Bass scored to bring the Lions advantage to 7-5 and subsequently tying the career points record. Bass then broke the record with the Lions next goal on a free position shot at the 22:28-mark to make it an 8-5 game. Baumann and Bass then went back-to-back on free position shots to give the Lions their largest lead of the game at that point to 10-5. The Blazers would score to cut the lead down to 10-6 at the 18:20-mark, but that would be the last goal they scored all day as the Lions closed the game out with thee more goals. Ashleigh Tortorice notched her first goal of the game at the 6:30-mark of the second half. Baumann then capped the Lions win with the final goal of the game with 36 seconds left.
The Lions held a 33-20 shot advantage for the game, and a 26-12 edge in shots on goal. Albright held a 24-15 advantage in ground balls, and won 13 of the 20 draw controls. Bass led the Lions with seven points behind four goals and three assists. She broke the career points record that was held by Erin Farrell, who played at Albright from 2013-2016. Baumann followed with five points behind four goals and one assist in addition to notching six ground balls and six caused turnovers. th win of the year behind making six saves in the full 60 minutes. Danielle Holt suffered the loss after making 13 saves in the full 60 minutes.
Albright will now await its postseason seeding in the MAC Commonwealth Tournament that will be decided on Saturday afternoon.
