McDaniel Shuts Out Men's Soccer

READING, Pa. – Four unanswered goals in a men's soccer meeting at Shirk Stadium will keep McDaniel undefeated, as Albright fell 4-0 on Tuesday evening.  The Lions drop to 1-4 and McDaniel will improve to 5-0 on the season.

The Green Terror got on the board early into the game, as senior Pat Palin found a header from sophomore Nick Starr following a free kick in the 8th minute.  Two more goals from McDaniel, including a penalty kick goal, came in the first half from junior Jacob Wells.  At the half, McDaniel was up 3-0 and held a 9-4 advantage in shots.

The second half of the contest saw six shots from the Lions, but in the 51st minute Wells took the ball to the goal again to earn a hat trick that carried the Green Terror to a 4-0 victory over Albright.

Senior goalkeeper Billy Mullen registered eight saves on the night for the Lions, while facing 16 total shots.  Green Terror freshman goalkeeper Matt Hays made five saves in the first 85 minutes of the game followed by sophomore Jonathan Mangione who kept the Lions out of the net.

The Green Terror edged the Lions in shots by a margin of 16-10.  Senior Connor Morgan and sophomore Alexander MacDonald paced the Lions with two shots each and McDaniel's Wells led the Green Terror with four shots on goal.

The Albright men's soccer team will return to Shirk Stadium for their fourth consecutive home game on Saturday, Sept. 14 to face Wilson College at 12 p.m.
