Women's Soccer Earns Victory in Home Opener, 3-0

READING, Pa. – Three goal scorers and a solid Lions' defense worked to a 3-0 win against the Wesley Wolverines in a Wednesday evening matchup at Shirk Stadium.  Albright improves to 3-2 as Wesley falls to 2-2 overall.

The Lions scoring began in the 21st minute with junior Amanda Fulcher placing the ball over Wesley goalkeeper from the left side after receiving a long ball from senior Bree Bowles on back line.

Just five minutes later, a right-side cross from freshman Abigail Motley found the head of junior Lauren Haley in front of the net to score the second goal of the game.  The contest was 2-0 at half in favor of the Lions.

Sophomore Autumn Bieber tallied a goal in the 66th minute as she found the net unassisted and rounded out the scoring for the Lions with no response from Wesley.

Albright held the advantage in shots 17-6 with a shot on goal margin of 11-4.  Haley had the game-high six shots for the Lions and the Wolverines were led by Kaitlyn Roazzi with three shots.

Sophomore goalkeeper Vanessa Baker registered four saves on the night to keep the shutout and earn the win.  Wesley's goalkeeper Kiyanna Gill made eight saves for the Wolverines.

Albright women's soccer is back in action at 7 p.m. on Saturday Sept. 14 at King's College.
