LANDISVILLE, Pa. – The Albright women's tennis team fell 1-6 to Lancaster Bible College in the fall season opener on Saturday, Sept. 21 at the Hempfield Rec Center in Landisville.
The Chargers swept the doubles matches, winning both 8-5. Albright's
Mara Trifoi and
Olivia Hauser dropped to Lancaster Bible's Greta Strunk and Lynndath Thelemaque at the first position. Chargers Haylee Fishel and Kenedi Berkhimer topped Lions
Shelby Woodard and
Libby Harford at the second spot.
The sole win of the match for Albright came from Trifoi, as she dominated Strunk 6-1, 6-2. In No. 2 singles action, Hauser fell to Lancaster Bible's Fishel 3-6, 3-6. Thelemaque won the No. 3 singles match against Woodard 7(7)- 6(3), 6-0. At No. 4, Albright's Harford fell to Berkhimer 2-6, 0-6. Lancaster Bible's Deanna Graber won the No. 5 position 6-0, 6-0 against
Victoria Metzinger.
The Lions return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 24 as they head to Westminster, Md. to face McDaniel at 3:30 p.m.
