READING, Pa. – A Saturday night matchup against the Immaculata Mighty Macs ended in a loss for the Albright men's soccer team with a final score 1-0. Albright falls to 1-3 and Immaculata will improve to 1-2-1 with the win.
The last time the Mighty Macs traveled to Shirk Stadium for a matchup was in the 2016 season and the result was a 3-4 loss for the Lions. Most recently, the Lions competed at Immaculata in a contest last season earning a 2-1 win.
The first half saw four shots from each team with the first attack of the game coming off a free kick by
Brendan Hanratty. Immaculata held a 3-1 edge in shots on goal and corner kicks. Albright's defense led by senior goalkeeper
Billy Mullen kept the game scoreless in the first 45 minutes.
In the 60
th minute of the game, Immaculata's Nick Boule drove down the right side of the field and placed the ball in the back of the net after cutting past Albright's defense for a 1-0 lead.
Albright's Mullen had seven saves on the night, while Mikey Kalpokas earned the win for the Mighty Macs and made two saves. Immaculata held a 13-7 advantage in shots and an 8-2 margin of shots on goal.
Brendan Hanratty paced the Lions with three shots and both Boule and Josh Fonder led Immaculata with four.
The Albright men's soccer team will face McDaniel College at Shirk Stadium on Tuesday, Sept. 10 at 7 p.m.
