READING, Pa. – The Albright men's basketball team used a complete performance to pick up a 75-57 win over Lycoming on Saturday afternoon in MAC Commonwealth play at the Bollman Center.
With the win, the Lions improved to 13-10 overall and 8-6 in MAC Commonwealth play. Albright has now picked up victories over the two teams that entered the week in the top two spots of the MAC Commonwealth Standings after defeating first-place Widener on Wednesday evening. Meanwhile, the Warriors fall to 16-8 overall and 9-6 in conference play.

Samuel Majekodunmi each posted a team-high 17 points in the win. Guerrero went 5-of-9 from the field and completed a double-double with 10 rebounds. Majekodunmi went 4-of-7 from beyond the arc, grabbed six rebounds, and dished out three assists. Sophomore
Corey Simmons added 10 points off the bench after going 5-of-8 from the field, while grabbing four rebounds. Sophomore
Mark Brinkley Jr. provided a spark off the bench as well with eight points behind two three-pointers.
Two quick layups gave the Warriors an initial 4-0 lead at the 18:27-mark of the first half before the Lions responded with five points of their own to go up 5-4 at the 15:49-mark. Following a three-pointer that gave the Warriors a 7-5 lead, the Lions went on a 15-1 run to go up 20-8 at the 10:44-mark of the first half. During that stretch, the Lions held the Warriors without a field goal for 5:09. Lycoming was able to work the deficit down to six points at 22-16 with 9:02 left in the first half, but the Lions responded with nine-straight points to take a 31-16 lead at the 3:54-mark of the first half. The run was keyed by another Lycoming cold stretch as they went 5:51 without scoring a point. Albright closed the first half with seven-straight points, capped by a three-pointer from Majekodunmi with two seconds left, to take a 42-22 lead into the locker rooms.
Lycoming opened the second half strong as they used a 14-3 run to cut the Lions lead down to nine points at 45-36 with 16:02 left in regulation. Following a timeout, Albright seized back control of the game with a 12-3 run to take a 57-39 at the 10:23-mark, forcing a Warriors timeout. With strong defense and timely baskets, the Lions maintained over a 15-point lead until the 1:07-mark of the second half. The Lions were able to take a lead by as many as 22 points in the closing minutes of the second half as well.
The Lions shot 40.9 percent (27-of-66) overall from the field, and went 10-of-27 (37%) from beyond the arc. Albright went a solid 11-of-14 (78.6%) from the free throw line, and held a 45-36 rebounding advantage that led to a 16-7 advantage in second chance points. The Lions also received 26 points from its bench, and forced 20 turnovers that led to 23 points. Meanwhile, the Warriors shot 33.9 percent (19-of-56) overall from the field after shooting just 23.3 percent in the first half. Lycoming went 7-of-25 (28%) from beyond the arc, and 12-of-18 (66.7%) from the free throw line.
Dyson Howard led the Warriors with a game-high 20 points behind going 8-of-13 from the field, and grabbed seven rebounds. Darius Dangerfield posted 18 points, four assists, and two steals for Lycoming in the loss.
The Lions will return to action on Tuesday, February 18
th as they will face crosstown rival Alvernia with important MAC Commonwealth Tournament implications on the line. Albright currently sits in fourth place just a half game above the Golden Wolves in the MAC Commonwealth standings entering the contest.
