WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Albright Lions men's tennis wrapped up the fall portion of its 2021-22 season with an 8-1 setback to Lycoming in non-conference action on Sunday afternoon.
With the loss, the Lions conclude the fall with a 2-3 record and will now set their sights on MAC Commonwealth play in the spring. Meanwhile, the Warriors improve to 2-3 overall in their final match of the fall season.
Lycoming won all three of the doubles points to take an early 3-0 lead in the match. At the first doubles spot, Lycoming's Nathan Redell and Cody Greenaway defeated the Lions first-year duo of
Clay Lewandowski and
Kobe Serpa, 8-0. Juniors
Arpit Gainder and
Mike Vogt were defeated in the No. 2 doubles spot by Luke Leach and Cody Haas by a score of 8-1, while the duo of junior
Nick Bush and senior
Ron Andanje fell 8-2 at the No. 3 doubles spot to Jason Anderson and Sebastian Klimitchev.
In singles, Gainder earned the lone win for the Lions in the No. 2 spot as he defeated Greenaway 6-3, 2-6 (7-5). Serpa fell to Redell 0-6, 0-6 in the No. 1 spot, while Lewandowski was defeated by Leach 1-6, 1-6 in the No. 3 spot. Andanje suffered a 0-6, 0-6 setback to Haas in the No. 4 spot before Vogt fell 4-6, 0-6 at the No. 5 spot to Anderson. Bush was defeated by Klimitchev 1-6, 4-6 at the No. 6 spot to close the match.
