GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – The Albright Lions men's tennis earned a dominant 8-1 win over Gwynedd Mercy in non-conference dual match action on Saturday afternoon.
With the win, the Lions improved to 1-2 overall and earned their first dual match win since October 2017 when they defeated Penn State Abington. Meanwhile, the Griffins drop to 0-2 overall on the season.
Albright won all three of the doubles points to take an early 3-0 lead in the match. At the first doubles spot, the Lions duo of junior
Arpit Gainder and first-year
Kobe Serpa defeated Gwynedd Mercy's Chris Rice and Ian Gordynskiy 8-1. First-year
Clay Lewandowski and junior
Mike Vogt earned the win in the No. 2 doubles spot by taking down Gustavo Bilbao and Ian Ryan by a score of 8-0, while the duo of First-year senior
Ron Andanje and junior
Nick Bush recorded the point in the No. 3 doubles spot by default.
In singles, Gainder defeated rice 6-3, 6-2 in the No. 1 spot while Serpa fell 4-6, 4-6 to Gordynskiy in the No. 2 spot. Lewandowski defeated Bilbao 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 3 spot and Andanje took the win in the No. 4 spot with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Ryan. Vogt and Bush earned wins in the No. 5 and No. 6 spots by default.
The Lions will return to action on Thursday, October 7th as they will host Penn State Abington at 3 p.m.
