READING, Pa. – The Albright Lions men's tennis team defeated Penn State Abington 7-2 in non-conference dual match action at the Albright Tennis Courts on Thursday afternoon.
With the win, the Lions earned their second-straight win as they improve to 2-2 overall. Meanwhile, the Nittany Lions fall to 0-2 overall.
Albright recorded wins in all three of the doubles points to take a 3-0 lead in the match. At the first doubles spot, the Lions duo of junior
Arpit Gainder and senior
Trent Tyer defeated Penn State Abington's Andrew Brown and Phil Belotserkovsky in a thrilling 8-7 match. Gainder and Tyer let a lead slip before winning the tiebreaker by a score of 7-5. Junior
Mike Vogt and first-year
Clay Lewandowski earned an 8-4 win over Adam Moskal and Kyle Elliot in No. 2 doubles action, while Senior
Ron Andanje and junior
Nick Bush earned the win in the No. 3 spot by a score of 8-1 over Jeevesh Gupta and Harshvardhan Goel.
Gainder continued his momentum by earning a 6-2, 2-6 (10-8) win in the number one spot over Brown. The Nittany Lions earned their first point of the match when Belotserkovsky defeated first-year
Kobe Serpa 6-2, 6-0, and earned another point in No. 3 singles when Tyer was defeated by Moskal 3-6, 2-6. Albright bounced back with a win in No. 4 singles by Lewandowski over Gupta 6-2, 6-0 before Vogt defeated Goel 6-0, 6-1. Andanje completed the Lions win with a 6-4, 4-6 (10-8) over Elliot in the No. 6 spot.
Albright will return to action on Sunday, October 10th as they will wrap up their fall schedule against Lycoming at 1:30 p.m.
