Men's Soccer Drops Non-Conference Contest at Bryn Athyn, 3-2

BRYN ATHYN, Pa. – The Albright men's soccer team suffered a non-conference setback at Bryn Athyn on Thursday evening despite their late comeback efforts.

With the loss, Albright falls to 3-12-1 overall while Bryn Athyn advances to 5-8 overall.

Albright displayed vigorous efforts in the opening minutes of action as first-year Luke Fanning posted the first shot just 54 seconds into the game that deflected off the crossbar. Bryn Athyn made their first shot on goal count as they found the back of the net in the ninth minute to take an early 1-0 lead. Bryn Athyn kept the momentum in the first half as they posted two more goals less than a minute apart in the 15th minute of action to claim a three-goal lead over Albright. Sophomore Luigi Costigliola had an opportunity on net for Albright in the 39th minute, but Bryn Athyn goalkeeper Michael Haas kept Albright scoreless heading into the half.

Senior Alexander MacDonald finally got Albright on the board in the 56th minute with a feed from junior Jake Kucowski that cut their deficit to 3-1. Sophomore John Villano added a late goal in the 84th minute with an assist from Costigliola to get Albright within one. Unfortunately for Albright their late efforts would not be enough to overcome Bryn Athyn as they claimed the 3-2 non-conference win.

Albright held a slight 10-5 shot advantage and an 8-4 shot on goal advantage over Bryn Athyn. First-year goalkeeper Chris Denholm receives the loss for Albright with one save in 90 minutes of action. Haas earns the win for Bryn Athyn with four saves in 45 minutes of play.

Albright returns to MAC Commonwealth action Wednesday at 7 p.m. as they host Alvernia.
