READING, Pa. – The Albright Lions women's soccer team suffered a 2-0 loss to No. 14 Messiah on Wednesday night in MAC Commonwealth play at Shirk Stadium.
With the loss, the Lions fall to 5-5-2 overall and 0-2 in MAC Commonwealth play. Meanwhile, the Falcons improve to 7-2-1 overall and 2-0 in conference action.
The Falcons controlled the ball for the majority of the first half as they recorded three shots in the opening 18 minutes. Messiah had its first best chance in the 24th minute on a shot that was saved by Lions first-year goalkeeper
McKenna LeVan. The Falcons then applied major pressure on the Lions in the 30th minute as a header from a corner kick was turned away by senior

Albright looked to respond to the Falcons goal as they recorded three shots in the span of four minutes with two that ended up being saved by Messiah's goalkeeper.
Messiah picked back up where they left off in the second half as they recorded four shots early on in the second half. Senior

LeVan was able to fend off the Falcons until the 80th minute when Madison Hughes extended the Messiah lead to 2-0 with a goal. Emma Herrmann crossed the ball from the right side and the ball found its way through traffic in the center of the box to Hughes.
The Falcons held a sizable 27-4 edge in shots and a 10-3 advantage in shots on goal. Messiah also held a 7-0 edge in corner kicks as well. LeVan made seven saves during the full 90 minutes in the net, while Falcons goalkeeper Lydia Watkins recorded three saves in the full time to earn the win.
