READING, Pa. – The Albright football team their 2021 season come to an end on a rainy Saturday as they were defeated by Lebanon Valley 25-2 at Shirk Stadium. Prior to the contest, Albright honored the dedication and commitments of their graduating seniors, as well as the graduating seniors of the Albright cheerleading team.
With the loss, the Lions finish the season 2-8 overall and 1-7 in conference play. Meanwhile, the Dutchmen close the chapter on their 2021 season 5-5 overall and 4-4 in MAC play.
Albright struggled to put any type of an offense together as they only combined for 185 total yards on the afternoon. Inclement weather did not help the Lions pass-game as senior quarterback
Todd Shelley went 5-of-15 for 52 yards in the air. Sophomore running back
Isaiah Shockley led the Lions in rushing yards with 69 on 13 carries. Senior
Tony Thorpe followed with 33 rushing yards on 11 carries. Senior
Kevin Zehner led the receivers with one 28-yard catch. Junior
Sidney Walker followed with two grabs for 23 receiving yards.
Lebanon Valley wasted little time offensively after forcing Albright to punt on their opening drive. The Dutchmen only needed four plays to get into the back of the Lions endzone. After a mishandling in the extra-point formation, the Dutchmen were able to recover the ball and complete a two-point conversion pass to take an 8-0 lead at the 9:26-mark of the first quarter. In the second quarter, Albright forced Lebanon Valley to punt on their own 18-yard line, which resulted in a high snap that soared over the Dutchmen punter's head and out of the back of the endzone, leading to a safety for the Lions and cutting their deficit to 8-2 at the 10:19-mark. The Dutchmen responded with on their next drive as they went 80-yards in nine plays ending in a nine-yard rush into the Albright endzone to take a 15-2 lead heading into the half.
The Dutchmen settled for a 22-yard field goal on their opening drive of the third quarter to put them ahead of the Lions 18-2 at the 8:16-mark. Albright was able to get down to the Lebanon Valley 24-yard line in their next drive, but a pass by Shelley was picked off by a Dutchmen defender at the three-yard line. Both teams struggled offensively to start the final quarter, but when the Lions were forced to punt on their own five-yard line they set the Dutchmen up with good field position at the Albright 45-yard line for their next drive. Lebanon Valley only needed one play to get their lead rusher into the Lions endzone to solidify their 25-2 victory.

Daniel Vital led the Lions defensive line with a career-high 18 tackles (9 solo). Senior
Sam Viera followed Vital with 13 tackles (7 solo). Brad Shear led the Dutchmen with eight tackles (5 solo) while Tim Ervey posted a program-record 271 rushing yards on 36 carries.
