Mason Sets Career Wins Record in Women's Lacrosse Senior Day Win

READING, Pa. – The Albright women's lacrosse team claimed a dominant 17-3 win over Wilkes in MAC crossover action at Shirk Stadium Saturday afternoon.
 
Prior to the contest, the Lions honored their three seniors, Terae Mason, Gabby Spracklin, and Arielle Caracciolo as part of senior day activities. The Lions continued their five-game win streak to advance to 7-4 overall while Wilkes falls to 2-6 overall.
 
Albright came out of the gates swinging with junior Lauren China scoring the first goal of the game at the 27:47-mark. Classmate Ashleigh Tortorice registered back-to-back goals to give the Lions an early 3-0 lead with 23:41 left in the half. Albright continued to dominate the half scoring another eight unanswered goals from six different Lions to give them an 11-0 lead at the 3:45-mark. Wilkes finally snapped the run at the 1:10-mark to get the Colonels on the board. Sophomore Chloe Fornoff capped off the strong first half with a buzzer-beater goal to give Albright a 12-1 lead entering the second half.
 
Junior Abbie Moist opened up the second half with her second goal of the game at the 28:42-mark. First-year Katelyn Patrick kept Albright's momentum going with her third goal of the game at the 26:12-mark, bringing the score to 14-1. Wilkes responded with a goal at the 24:15-mark to bring their deficit to 14-2. China registered her fourth goal of the game at 22:53 to bring the score to 15-2. Wilkes registered a goal at the 17:00-mark but Albright responded with back-to-back goals from Tortorice and first-year Morgan Kopcik to bring their lead to 17-3. The Colonels scored a goal in the final seconds of the game but their efforts would not be enough to overcome the Lions as they claimed the 17-4 win.
 
Albright held a sizable 38-11 advantage in shots over Wilkes registering 31 shots on goal. The Lions also won the battle for ground balls 17-9 and draw controls 17-4. Albright also forced Wilkes into making 21 turnovers. With three saves in 56:48 minutes of play, senior goalkeeper Terae Mason claims the win for the Lions to set the program record for career wins with 34. Junior goalkeeper Ashley Coughlin receives the loss for the Colonels despite making 13 saves in 45:26 minutes of play. Albright saw goals from eight different players on the afternoon. China led the Lions in scoring with four goals and one assist for five points. Fornoff added four points off two goals and two assists and pulled eight draw controls. Patrick also registered four points with three goals and one assist. Tortorice and Moist added three points each.
 
The Lions will close out MAC Commonwealth play on Wednesday at 4pm as they travel to York.
