Softball Swept by Dutchmen on the Road

ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Albright Lions softball team suffered a pair of losses to Lebanon Valley on Saturday afternoon in MAC Commonwealth play.
 
With the losses, the Lions drop to 0-12 overall and in MAC Commonwealth play. Meanwhile, the Dutchmen improve to 7-8 overall and in conference play.
 
GAME ONE
After the Lions were retired in order in the top of the first, and the Dutchmen quickly took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first following a walk and a double. First-year Kathryn Baptiste looked to spark a two-out rally in the top of the second with a single before fly out ended the inning. Lebanon Valley extended its lead to 5-0 after scoring four runs with two outs. Albright once again received a two-out single, this time from first-year Jaime Dagostino, in the top of the third before a ground out ended the threat. Lebanon Valley continued to pull away in the bottom of the third as they scored three runs on one hit and two Lions errors. The Dutchmen added one more run in the bottom of the fourth to make it 9-0 on a single following a triple to lead off the inning. First-year Jordan Melson reached base on a two-out single in the top of the fifth before the Dutchmen sealed the win by retiring the next batter.
 
GAME TWO
Lebanon Valley took a commanding 8-0 lead in the bottom of the first before an out was recorded, and tallied six hits. Albright put two runners on base with two outs following a pair of walks, but a strikeout ended the threat. The Dutchmen continued to swing a hot bat as they extended its lead to 13-0 in the bottom of the second behind six more hits. Lebanon Valley capped the game off with five more runs in the bottom of the third inning to go up 18-0. Senior Kaitlyn Chell recorded the Lions lone hit of the contest with a double in the top of the fourth.
 
Dagostino, Melson, and Baptiste all recorded hits in game one while Chell reached base twice in game two.  Jordan Walter earned the win for the Dutchmen in game one after throwing five shutout innings, allowing three hits, and striking out two. Erin Sinatra recorded the win in game two after allowing just one hit in five shutout innings, and striking out six.
 
The Lions will return to action on Tuesday, April 6th as they will travel to face York for a MAC Commonwealth doubleheader starting at 3 p.m.
