YORK, Pa. – The Albright men's lacrosse team suffered a season ending 31-2 loss to #6 York in the MAC Commonwealth quarterfinals Saturday evening.
With the loss, the Lions close out the 2021 season 2-9 overall and 1-5 in MAC Commonwealth play. Meanwhile, York advances to the semifinal round of the MAC Commonwealth tournament with a 12-1 overall record and 5-1 in conference play.
York opened the game with back-to-back goals to give them an early lead. Albright got on the board at the 11:14-mark with a goal from junior
Jacob Cunningham to bring the score to 2-1. The Spartans closed out on the quarter with eight unanswered goals to bring their lead to 10-1. York opened the second stanza with five unanswered goals, bringing the score to 15-1. Sophomore
Harrison Bodwell finally snapped the Spartans' run with a goal at the 4:34-mark of the second quarter off a feed from senior
John Gilbert. York closed the second half with 4 unanswered goals to bring their lead to 18-2 going into halftime. Unfortunately for the Lions, the Spartans scored 13 unanswered goals in the second half to claim the 31-2 win.
York held a 65-20 shot advantage over Albright and won the battle ground balls 50-32. Sophomore Goalkeeper
