WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Albright women's tennis team had six athletes compete in the 2021 MAC Individual Championship Tournament this weekend.
In singles play, junior
Shelby Woodard competed out of the Lions No. 1 spot and fell 6-2, 6-2 to Hannah Seebold of Lycoming. Senior
Lauren China was defeated 8-1 by Zoe Klein of Wilkes in the No. 2 spot, while classmate
Marisa Cocca was downed in the No. 3 spot by Erin Weller of FDU-Florham by a score of 6-0, 6-1. Senior
Maddie Taylor fell 6-0, 6-0 to Chloe Doyle in the No. 4 spot, and sophomore
Macie Littleton dropped a 6-0, 6-1 decision to Alexandria Kramer of Stevenson. Sophomore
Angelina Gaglio rounded out the Lions in the No. 6 spot and was defeated 6-1, 6-0 by Emily Morano of King's.
In doubles play, the duo of Woodard and China fell 8-2 to Kasi Conjack and Angela Tozzi of Messiah in the No. 1 spot. The No. 2 spot duo of Cocca and Taylor dropped an 8-0 decision to Jackelyn Checo and Lily Summerson of Alvernia, while the No. 3 duo of Littleton and Gaglio were edged by Marina Lemin and Amy Mayo of FDU-Florham, 9-8 (7-2).
The Lions will open their fall dual match season against Trinity (DC) on Thursday, September 16th at 3 p.m.
