READING, Pa. – The Albright men's soccer team claimed a tightly contested 2-1 victory over Penn State Brandywine Thursday evening at Shirk Stadium.
The Lions advance to 2-3-1 overall while the Nittany Lions fall to 4-2-1.
Brandywine applied pressure on the Albright defense and fired off the first two shots to open up the game. Senior Alex MacDonald showed off his footwork as he passed multiple Nittany Lions defenders and laid the ball up to classmate

Hunter Stump made two saves for the Lions in the first 45 minutes of action to keep the Nittany Lions off the board entering the second half.
The second half was tightly contested as both teams got off just three shots each. Brandywine found the back of the net late in the 88
th minute of the game to get within just one goal of Albright. Despite their efforts in the final seconds of the game, they were unable to get another shot off as Albright claimed the 2-1 victory.
Both teams tallied eight shots on the evening. Brandywine held a slight 5-4 shot on goal advantage over Albright. Stump receives the win for the Lions with four saves in 90 minutes of action. Sophomore goalkeeper John Simpson receives the loss for the Nittany Lions after starting the game and 45 minutes action.
Albright returns to the pitch Saturday at 7 p.m. against Rosemont at Shirk Stadium.
