MADISON, N.J. – The Albright men's soccer team suffered a 2-1 loss on the road at FDU-Florham Wednesday evening.
The Lions fall to 2-5-1 overall while the Devils advance to 5-2-1 overall.
It was a tightly contested first half as both teams tallied six shots each. Sophomore goalkeeper
Hunter Stump made four big saves in the first 45 minutes of action to keep the Devils scoreless. Sophomore
John Villano fired off two shots on goal to which Devils goalkeeper Tiernan Grey put a stop to as the game remained scoreless entering the half.
Senior
Yaniv Gonyoe got the Lions on the board in the 51
st minute to take the lead. The Devils responded with a goal in the 56
th minute to tie the game up at 1. Shortly after senior Alex MacDonald had an opportunity to take the lead for the Lions with a penalty shot following a Devils foul, but Grey made a crucial save. The Devils found the back of the net off a penalty shot of their own in the 69
th minute of the game to take the 2-1 lead. Despite their late efforts, Albright was unable to get another one past the goalkeeper as FDU-Florham claimed the 2-1 victory.
Each team took a total of 12 shots while the Devils held an 8-5 shot on goal advantage over the Lions. Stump receives the loss for Albright despite completing six saves in 90 minutes of action. Grey earns the win for the Devils with four saves in 90 minutes of play.
The Lions will return to action next Thursday, September 30
th at 4 p.m. as they take on Penn State Altoona at Shirk Stadium
