READING, Pa. – The Albright women's soccer team saw their six-game shutout streak snapped as they suffered a 4-0 setback to a competitive Stockton team Monday evening at Shirk Stadium. First-year goalkeeper
McKenna LeVan officially tallied a program-record 629:01 minutes without letting up a single goal.
With the loss, the Lions fall to 4-3-2 overall while the Ospreys advance to 7-1-2.
The two teams battle hard in the opening minutes of the game. Senior
Autumn Bieber put pressure on Ospreys goalkeeper Kylee Sullivan early with a shot on goal in the third minute. Stockton eventually found the back of the net in the 17
th minute off a cross and a one-touch shot that LeVan could not get to in time. The Lions struggled to get anymore shots off in the first 45 minutes of action as the Ospreys held onto their 1-0 lead entering the half.
Albright, again, applied early pressure getting off two shots in the first ten minutes of the second half. However, Stockton tallied another goal off of a free-kick in the 65
th minute to take the two-goal lead over Albright. The Ospreys kept the momentum going as they scored two more goals in the 75
th and 78
th minutes to claim the 4-0 win over the Lions.
Stockton held a 10-6 shot advantage over Albright as well as a 6-1 shot on goal advantage. LeVan receives the loss for the Lions despite making two saves in 82:15 minutes of play. Sullivan earns the win for Stockton with one save in the full amount of action.
The Lions will close out their non-conference schedule with Mount Aloysius Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Shirk Stadium.
