Boggs Sets Program Record Rebounds in Women's Hoops 52-31 Win at Lebanon Valley

ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Albright women's basketball team got back on track as they picked up a 52-31 conference victory at Lebanon Valley on Saturday afternoon.  
 
With the win, the Lions advance to 3-2 in conference action and 8-3 overall. Meanwhile, the Dutchmen fall to 2-4 in MAC Commonwealth play and 7-8 overall.
 
Senior Gabby Boggs posted her tenth double-double of the season and set a program record 27 rebounds. Boggs also added 18 points behind 7-for-14 shooting from the field and 4-for-6 from the charity stripe, three assists, two blocks, and two steals. Classmate Abby Gaffney also recorded a double-double with 17 points behind 6-for-16 shooting from the floor and 3-for-4 from beyond the arc and 11 rebounds. In her collegiate debut, first-year Mackenzie Dover added eight points off the bench on 3-for-11 shooting from the field and grabbed eight boards.
 
After Lebanon Valley took an early lead by scoring on their first possession, the two teams were tied up at five at the 6:47-mark. Gaffney then sparked a 9-0 run for the Lions that was capped off with a three-pointer from sophomore Kamyra Dorsey to give them a 14-5 lead with 4:29 left in the first. The Dutchmen scored the final bucket of the quarter as they trailed 14-7 entering the second stanza. Albright's strong defensive efforts forced Lebanon Valley to shoot just 2-12 (16.7%) in the second quarter. The Lions used a 13-4 advantage that was capped off with back-to-back three-pointers from Gaffney to hold onto a 27-11 lead entering the break.
 
Both teams traded baskets and went on an even 5-5 run to open the second half. Gaffney then sparked a 9-3 run for the Lions that was capped off with a bucket from Dover to give Albright a 41-19 lead at the 3:03-mark of the third. The Dutchmen closed out the quarter with a 7-4 advantage to cut their deficit to 45-26. The Lions had another strong defensive quarter to close out the game, only allowing the Dutchmen to score five points and holding them to 16.7% shooting from the field in the final stanza. Albright solidified their dominant 52-31 conference victory over Lebanon Valley.
 
Albright shot 18-for-59 (30.5%) from the field, 5-for-15 (33.3%) from beyond the arc, and 11-for-17 (64.7%) from the charity stripe. The Lions held a dominant 56-30 rebound advantage over the Dutchmen and scored 17 points off forced turnovers. Meanwhile, Lebanon Valley shot 12-for-54 (22.2%) from the floor, 5-for-21 (23.8%) from three-point range, and 2-for-4 (50.0%) from the free-throw line. The Dutchmen saw 16 points off their bench.
