Wilkes-Barre, PA - The Albright Lions fell to the Wilkes Colonels by a score of 27-0 on Saturday afternoon. The loss drops the Lions to 0-5 on the season, and 0-3 in conference play. The Colonels improve to 3-1 and 2-1.
The scoring started six minutes into the game when Wilkes scored on a 10 yard run by Elijah Jules. That was it for first quarter scoring. The Colonels would double their lead in the second quarter on an eight yard run by Isaiah Rodriguez. They would take a 14-0 lead into halftime.
The third quarter played out similarly to the first, as the only score was a 10 yard touchdown run by Jules, six minutes into the half to make it 21-0 Colonels. Two fourth quarter field goals would extend the lead to 27-0, the eventual final score.
Alex Gardsy made the start at QB for the Lions, and he completed one pass for three yards. Jahkem Allen made his collegiate debut in this game. He went 4-7 through the air for 16 yards, and ran for 12 yards on four attempts.
Isaiah Shockley ran for 26 yards on 12 attempts.
On defense,
Sam Viera once again led the way with 11 tackles. Behind him
Samuel Moratori had eight, while
Daniel Vital and
Omar Sesay each had seven.
Up Next - The Lions will have their bye week up next, before hosting King's College on Saturday, October 15th at Shirk Stadium. That game is the annual Pretzel Bowl, and will kickoff at 12pm.
