Reading, PA - The Albright Lions won in their final game of the season with a 3-1 win over Hood on Saturday night. The win improves the Lions record to 3-12-2 on the season, and 1-7 in conference play. The Blazers fall to 3-13-2 and 0-8.
The Lions came out and attacked the Blazers early, scoring what they thought was a goal early in the game, but it was called back for offsides. But it was just a precursor to how this game would go. The first real goal happened in the 28th minute off of a shot by
Martin Ramsay that the Blazers goalie saved, but the rebound went right to
Noah Raimonde, and he rifled the shot into the net. The goal was the first Lion goal at home since September 17th against Rosemont.
The Lions would double their lead just five minutes later when
Austin Gross knocked in a penalty kick. Less than a minute later the Lions would add a third goal on a
John Villano shot. They would take the 3-0 lead into the half.
The second half was more of the same, as the Lions would continue to attack, they would be unable to finish, but kept the pressure on throughout. The Blazers would find the back of the net late in the game on a Cam Simpler goal in the 89th minute.
The Lions outshot the Blazers 16-8, and had eight corner kicks compared to Hood's one.
Prior to the game the Lions honored their two seniors,
Andrew Aziz and
Jake Kucowski.
