BRIDGEWATER, Va - The Albright men's basketball team (1-1, 0-0 MAC Commonwealth) played in their second straight road game to start the 2022-23 season. The Lions opened the Carlyle Whitelow Invitational against the hosts in Bridgewater College (1-1, 0-0 ODAC). Bridgewater won the game 77-67 over Albright late Friday night.
Albright opened the game jumping out to a 7-5 lead behind 3-3 shooting from the field.
After the fast start the Bridgewater defense turned up the pressure and forced Albright into unfavorable matchups. Improved shooting as the half wore on and strong defense gave the Eagles a 31-19 lead at halftime.
Bridgewater carried their strong play into the second half and kept Albright at an arms length maintaining the lead. Albright outscored Bridgewater 48-46 in the final 20 minutes displaying a strong offensive output.
Despite shooting well in the second half the Lions first half deficit was too much to overcome.
Eric Chamberlain led the way for Albright scoring 12 points. Robert Mangum had nine points and seven rebounds and Zyon Grant had six points and seven rebounds standing out for the Lions offensively.
