READING, PA - The Albright Men's Basketball team (1-0, 0-0 MAC Commonwealth) opened their 2022-23 season on the road against Penn State Berks (0-0, 0-0 United East) and earned a hard fought 90-76 victory.
Penn State Berks jumped out to a quick 9-0 lead which forced Albright into an early timeout from Coach Ferry. After being down as many as 14 points in the first half, the Lions stormed all the way back to lead 45-39 at halftime.
Eight different Albright players made at least one shot from the field in the half. Issac LaPierre poured in eight points going a perfect 3-3 from the field to lead Albright. Eric Chamberlain stuffed the stat sheet through the first 20 minutes recording seven points, four assists, two rebounds and two steals.
Albright increased their lead to 10 points just two and a half minutes into the second half. PSU Berks attempted a comeback cutting the deficit to three with eight minutes left.
That would be the closest the Nittany Lions would come as Albright used a 19-11 run to close the game and earn the season opening win.
Chamberlain tied a school record tonight with seven steals in the game. In addition to the steals, the sophomore guard finished with 11 points, seven assists and three rebounds.
Albright had six players in double figures tonight led by LaPierre's 14 points. Chris Kouemi scored 13, Dylan McGinley tallied 12, Robert Mangum had 11 and Zyon Grant scored 10 in the contest.

Albright will next be in action at the Bridgewater Tournament starting on Friday November, 11. The Lions will meet Bridgewater College in the first game of the tournament. That game is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. tipoff.
