READING, Pa. - The Albright men's basketball team (5-5, 2-2 MAC Commonwealth) was in action on Saturday afternoon and fell on the road to the Golden Wolves of Alvernia (7-2, 3-1 MAC Commonwealth). The hosts took the MAC Commonwealth battle by a final score of, 79-70.
Albright jumped out to a 9-0 run to start the game and held Alvernia scoreless for nearly the first three minutes of the opening half. The fast start forced Alvernia into an early 30-second timeout.
As the half wore on Alvernia was able to climb back into the game. It was a tightly contested first half overall featuring four lead changes throughout.
The Lions held a one point advantage, 34-33, after 20 minutes of play. Jordan Guerrero poured in nine first half points including 2-for-2 from 3-point range while adding seven rebounds to lead Albright.
The opening 10 minutes of the second half played similarly to the first half with neither team being able to take a sizable lead.
With Alvernia leading late in the second half a Eric Chamberlain 3-point basket cut the Albright deficit to three with four minutes to go. However, the late rally came up short from the Lions and the Golden Wolves were able to close out the game and win 79-70.
Guerrero finished with a game high 19 points. The senior forward added nine rebounds and two steals on the day.
Chamberlain finished the game with 15 points, four rebounds and four assists. Robert Mangum rounded out the Lions in double figures scoring 10 points and collecting six rebounds.

The Albright men's basketball team will host the Doubletree Holiday Tournament spanning from 29-30 of December. The participants are Salsibury (MD), Hamilton (NY) and Washington and Jefferson College. Albright will play at 4 p.m. against Washington and Jefferson College on Thursday, December 29.
