READING, Pa. – The Albright men's lacrosse dropped their home opener 11-6 to Manhattanville at Shirk Stadium on Saturday.
With the loss, the Lions drop to 0-2 overall. Meanwhile, the Valiants open up their 2022 season 1-0 overall.

Jon Alvarez led the Lions offense with two goals apiece. Senior
Shane Early added two points behind one goal and one assist while senior
Ryan Janowski grabbed a team-high five ground balls.
Albright applied early pressure, firing off the first four shots in the opening minutes of the game. However, Manhattanville got on the board with their first shot at the 11:07-mark. Early answered at the 7:53-mark with an unassisted goal to tie the game at one. The Valiants took a 2-1 lead with the final goal of the opening quarter.
Alvarez tied the game up at two just 1:25 into the second stanza. Manhattanville began to take control of the game with four unanswered goals to pull ahead 6-2 at the 2:55-mark. Junior
Jay Shifflet notched one more goal for the Lions before the break to cut their deficit to 6-3.
Genneken got Albright within two with the opening goal of the third quarter. The Valiants added three more to their goal total to extend their lead to 9-4 at the 3:22-mark. Genneken tallied another at the 1:44-mark to cut the Lions deficit to 9-5 at the end of the third.
The two teams traded goals to open the final stanza, but Manhattanville solidified their 11-6 win with a final goal at the 3:10-mark.
Despite the loss, Albright held a 36-28 edge in shots and a 19-6 shots on goal advantage. The battle for ground balls was just about even with the Lions holding a 24-23 advantage. Albright also held a slight 11-10 advantage in faceoffs. Junior goalkeeper
Ethan Hinman receives the loss for the Lions with five saves in 60 minutes of action. Jason Frezza earns the win for the Valiants with 13 saves in the full amount of action.
The Lions return to action on Wednesday at 7 p.m. as they travel to Gwynedd Mercy for non-conference action.
