GRANTHAM, Pa. – The Albright women's tennis team saw their four-match win streak snapped at Messiah on Saturday as they were downed 7-2 in the MAC Commonwealth Opener.
With the loss, the Lions fall to 7-2 overall and open conference action 0-1. Meanwhile, the Falcons improve to 3-7 overall and 1-0 in conference.

Shelby Woodard got the Lions off to a 1-0 lead after downing their doubles opponents 8-4 in the first match. However, Messiah claimed the next two doubles matches without allowing for a single point from Albright to take a 2-1 lead.
Pancu extended her singles win streak to nine as she earned a 6-1, 6-0 victory at the No. 1 spot. Woodard took her opponent into a third set at the No. 3 spot but was downed 3-6, 6-2, 3-6. Messiah claimed dominant victories in the other four singles matches to earn the 7-2 victory over Albright.
The Lions will return to the Albright College Tennis Courts on Monday at 3 p.m. as they host Eastern to continue MAC Commonwealth action.
