READING, Pa. – The Albright women's tennis team was defeated 7-2 at Alvernia in a local MAC Commonwealth matchup on Wednesday.
With the loss, the Lions drop to 1-3 in conference and 8-4 overall. Meanwhile, the Golden Wolves improve to 4-1 in conference and 10-3 overall.
Alvernia came out of the gates claiming all three doubles matches to grasp an early 3-0 advantage.
Alex Pancu got Albright on the board in the No. 1 singles spot with a 6-3, 7-5 win for her twelfth-straight individual win to remain undefeated in singles matches.
Shelby Woodard fought hard in the No. 3 spot as she grasped a 6-4, 0-6, 10-4 win to earn a second point for Albright. Unfortunately for the Lions, the Golden Wolves claimed the final three singles matches to solidify their 7-2 victory.
Albright will return to the Albright Tennis Courts on Saturday at 1 p.m. as they host Hood in MAC Commonwealth action.
