Men's Lacrosse Falls to #15 Stevenson

READING, Pa. – The Albright men's lacrosse team was downed 29-7 by No. 15 Stevenson in MAC Commonwealth action to close out their home schedule at Shirk Stadium on Saturday.
 
With the loss, the Lions drop to 0-6 in conference and 4-10 overall. Meanwhile, the nationally ranked Mustangs remained undefeated in conference at 6-0 and improve to 11-4 overall.
 
Stevenson opened up their scoring with a goal at the 13:13-mark of the opening frame. The Mustangs controlled the pace in the first quarter as they notched seven unanswered goals and held Albright scoreless to claim a 7-0 advantage.
 
The Mustangs kept their foot on the gas in the second stanza, netting four more unanswered goals and extending their lead to 11. Albright finally got on the board at the 8:44-mark with an unassisted goal from senior Jacob Cunningham. The Mustangs closed out the first half with six-straight scores to hold a commanding 17-1 lead entering the break.
 
Cunningham opened up the scoring in the second half just 36 second in with his second unassisted goal of the game. Stevenson answered at the 13:02-mark, to which first-year Jack Burke responded with a goal off a feed from sophomore Tyler Richards. The Mustangs took back the momentum with five-straight scores, extending their lead to 23-3. First-year Ryan Houghtaling closed out the third with an unassisted goal in the final minute, bringing the score to 23-4.
 
Stevenson notched the first goal of the final stanza at the 11:22-mark to take back a 20-goal lead. Senior Terrell Ringgold found the back of the net for Albright behind a feed from Houghtaling at the 10:04-mark. The two teams traded goals as Albright tallied their last two scores from sophomore Jon Alvarez and senior Shane Early. The Mustangs closed out the game just as they started it with four unanswered scores to solidify their 29-7 victory.
 
Stevenson held a sizable 80-25 shot advantage and a 50-16 shot on goal advantage over Albright. The Mustangs also won the battle for ground balls 34-27 and faceoffs 32-8. First-year goalkeeper Ethan Hendershot receives the loss for the Lions with 11 saves in 30 of action. Marc Poust earns the win in net for the Mustangs with just three saves in 30 minutes of action.
 
The Lions will return to action on Wednesday at 4 p.m. as they travel to local Reading rival Alvernia for MAC Commonwealth action.
