READING, Pa. – The Albright men's tennis team picked up their first MAC Commonwealth victory of the season with a 6-3 win over Hood at the Albright College Tennis Courts on Saturday.
With the win the Lions improve to 1-4 in conference and 5-8 overall. Meanwhile, the Blazers fall to 0-7 in conference and 1-11 overall.
Albright jumped out to a 3-0 lead after claiming all three doubles matches. Samuel Zapata-Hernandez and
Kobe Serpa earned an 8-3 win in the first double match while
Arpit Gainder and
Clay Lewandowski earned an 8-1 win in the second.
Nick Bush and
Mike Vogt won the third doubles match by default due to a lack of Hood players competing.
Hood picked up their first points in the No. 1, No. 2, and No. 3 singles spots to tie the game at three. Vogt got the Lions back on track with a 6-0, 6-0 win in the No. 4 spot. Bush and Lewandowski solidified the Lions win with wins by default in the No. 5 and No. 6 spots.
Albright will return to action tomorrow as they host York at 11 a.m.
