Baseball Outlasted by Messiah

READING, Pa. – The Albright baseball team was unable to hold on to an early lead as they were downed 12-3 by Messiah in MAC Commonwealth action at Kelchner Field on Tuesday.
 
With the loss, the Lions drop to 0-3 in conference and 1-21 overall. Meanwhile, the Falcons improve to 4-1 in conference and 14-11 overall.
 
Albright got on the board early in the bottom of the first as Nick Sklenarick doubled down the left field line to fire up the Lions offense. Dylan Harlos then reached base on a passed ball while Sklenarik moved to third. Reece Adam then sent one beyond the fence to put the Lions in front 3-0. Messiah answered in the top of the second with two runs on two hits and one error to get within one of the Lions.
 
The Falcons tied it up at three with one run in the top of the fourth. Messiah then posted a big offensive inning in the fifth with four runs on three hits and one error to take their first lead of the game at 7-3. The Falcons notched a homer in the top of the sixth extending their lead to five. Messiah closed out their scoring in the eighth inning with another four runs on four hits to solidify their 12-3 conference victory.
 
Roman Berretta led the Lions with two hits on the afternoon while Adam tallied three RBI. Jeremy Brubaker (0-5) receives the loss on the pitching mound for Albright behind 5.0 innings pitched, eight strikeouts, and 26 batters faced.  
 
The Lions will return to action on Friday at 3:30 p.m. as they travel to Messiah to wrap up the season series.
